Covenant Eyes Program for FBC Calvert City
Remember the wisdom from Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 - Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. God never intended us to do life on our own. Enrolling in Covenants Eyes is not just for folks who are currently battling with this issue. It’s for those who don’t want to find themselves or their family members, stuck in that battle!
Covenant Eyes is a tool that can help you and your family deal with the pervasive presence of internet pornography. I encourage you to go to the Covenant Eyes website and take a tour of some of the resources and to better understand the nature of the tremendous service they provide. www.covenanteyes.com And remember, Covenant Eyes protection extends to your other mobile devices, as well. There is no extra cost for this service.
You are not required to work through First Baptist Church to take advantage of Covenant Eyes protection. If you wish to use the program as an individual family, the cost is $12.99 per year ... CLICK on the site link above to get started. For those individuals that wish to work in our church group, here is what it will entail:
Step 1. Pray about it. As I said in my message on May 18, 2014, “It Starts in the Heart,” Covenant Eyes can be a great help, but if your heart is not in the effort, it won’t do make it happen for you.
Step 2. For those individuals included in the FBC group, the individual rate is $24 for a year. We will ask for a year's payment before you are included in the group. Costly? Somewhat ... but far cheaper than the cost of failure.
Step 3. Once enrolled, you will be given instructions for loading the program on your computer. After you install the program, you will be asked to select an internet accountability partner. That partner need not be a member of Covenant Eyes, nor does it have to be me or any church staff member ... you decide. This is what will happen: Each week, or at intervals you decide, a complete history of your internet use will be sent to your accountability partner. I encourage you to carefully select your accountability partner. For this effort to be successful they need to be willing, and you must allow them to challenge you about any questionable internet activity.
Step 4. Enjoy the blessings of knowing you have someone to help you stand strong against this incredible threat to you, your family, and our community.
To be clear, I will be the program administrator and will control access to the group. I will know who is included in the group and whether or not each person has selected an accountability partner. I WILL NOT be able to access your accountability reports. My job is simply to manage the group and ensure that participants have any questions answered or problems resolved. If you decide to sign up, I will provide you with additional information to help you get started.
Should you have any further questions, please give me a call, send an email or text message, or stop by my office. Your participation in this program will always be confidential. [email protected] office: 270-395-4600
May the Lord bless your efforts to stay pure ... and faithful!
Together in Him,
Bro. Jim
