The Church Covenant of First Baptist Church of Calvert City
Adopted: October 19, 2011
Having been led by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the public profession of our faith, and having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God and this assembly, solemnly and joyfully enter into this covenant with one another, as one body in Christ called First Baptist Church of Calvert City.
By the power of the Holy Spirit we commit to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the call of our Savior to do so without delay; to diligently pursue the advancement of this church body in knowledge, holiness and faithfulness; to promote its prosperity and spiritual maturity; and to support its worship, ordinances, personal and corporate discipline, and its beliefs.
We commit to contribute willingly and regularly to the support of the ministry of this church through regular and sacrificial financial support, to minister to the needs of this body and of the local community, to carefully and faithfully manage the resources God provides to us, and to the spread of the gospel through all nations in accordance with the Great Commission Call of Jesus Christ.
We commit to faithfully pursue family and personal devotions, to bring up our children in the teachings and examples of the Bible and to seek the salvation of our loved ones, friends, and acquaintances.
We commit to live out our faith with careful consideration of our witness to those around us; to be just in our dealings, faithful to our commitments and exemplary in our lifestyle choices; to avoid all forms of gossip and idle chatter about people, and unkind vengeful remarks about others, and anger that comes from offended egos or bitterness; to seek God’s help in abstaining from all drugs, food, drink, and practices which might bring harm to the witness of the church body or jeopardize our own or another person’s faith; and to be intentional in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior.
We also agree that when we move from this church body, we will, as soon as possible, unite with another body of like-minded believers where we can continue to carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.
